The cooling tower removes excess heat from heated water and returns it cooled to the system. The main principle is evaporative cooling: part of the water evaporates, taking thermal energy, and the remaining water cools down.

Operating principle

How a cooling tower works

Evaporative cooling is the basis of the process. Water and air interact, transferring heat and reducing the water temperature.

    Heated water enters the upper part of the unit through a distribution system.

    Water is evenly supplied to the sprinkler (packing), which increases the contact area with air.

    The fan (or natural draft) creates an air flow through the interior of the cooling tower.

    When water comes into contact with air, a small part evaporates, taking thermal energy with it, the rest of the water cools down.
